Mongolia to implement new tourism development policies

AKIPRESS.COM - The Mongolian government will implement new policies to boost the tourism sector, one of the biggest victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, Xinhua reported the country's Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene as saying.

Oyun-Erdene made the remarks during a meeting with representatives of companies in the tourism sector.

"The government sees tourism as one of the six sectors that will play an important role in the country's development. Therefore, we will work to start a new chapter in the development of this sector through new policies and new approaches," said Oyun-Erdene.

Around 95 percent of the 88,700 employees in more than 2,300 companies in Mongolia's tourism sector lost their incomes in 2020 due to the pandemic, according to official data.
