New PCR test kit developed by Mongolian scientists shows 100 percent result

AKIPRESS.COM - Scientists of the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (MNUMS) have developed a new PCR test kit to detect antibodies against SARS-Cov-2 in a saliva sample and the test kit is now ready for introduction into practice, Montsame reports.

Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the State Emergency Commission S.Amarsaikhan met representatives of the project team.

The diagnostic kit testing has shown 100 percent result for its sensitivity and specificity to detect the infection, in addition to its ability to produce the result in a short time. Moreover, the sample can be stored for 14 days and the diagnostic kit costs 2-3 times cheaper, said Head of the Experts’ Council and Director of MNUMS Dr.Prof N. Khurelbaatar

Head of the SEC S.Amarsaikhan instructed the Minister of Health to officially certify the test kit and introduce them into practice, relying on all functioning laboratories.
