UK to partner with Mongolia in climate change mitigation

AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Environment and Tourism N.Urtnasan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Philip Malone to discuss the pressing issues of climate change as well as greenhouse gas emission, Montsame reports.

During the meeting, the sides noted the successful implementation of projects and programs on climate change mitigation and biodiversity protection, and expressed their interest in bringing the partnership to a new level. More specifically, they discussed collaboration on developing tourism, preparing environmental reporters, and measures to recover the socio-economic system in an environmentally friendly way. Furthermore, they discussed the matter of participating in the 26th UN Climate Change Conference, which will be taking place in Glasgow in November 2021.

Noting that preparations are being carried out to participate in the conference, the Minister expressed her hope of the event serving an important role in climate change mitigation. They also exchanged views on effectively implementing projects and programs on protecting the untouched nature, wildlife, and biodiversity of Mongolia, accelerating cooperation.
