Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan cancels rulings against ex-Attorney General Salyanova

AKIPRESS.COM - The Supreme Court cancelled the previous rulings of courts against former Attorney General Aida Salyanova.

Motion of the defense to reconsider the criminal probe against Salyanova was partially granted. The case was sent for new consideration to the Lenin district court of Bishkek.

Salianova was found guilty of abuse of office by all court instances. She was found guilty of illegally extending the lawyer's license to Alexei Eliseev in 2010 when Salyanova was the Minister of Justice.

Her defense team believes that the new Criminal Code and Criminal Procedural Code came into effect and charges brought against Salyanova were decriminalized, thus should be removed.

Salyanova was handed 5 years of suspended sentence. She will serve them when her younger daughter born in July 2015 turns 14.
