Mobile parenting app "Bebbo" and "Learning Passport" launched in Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Education and Science Bolotbek Kupeshev and UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Afshan Khan today presented mobile parenting app “Bebbo” and the “Learning Passport”.

The Bebbo app will be launched across 11 countries in the region in a sequenced manner between November 2021 and March 2022. It will provide parents with expert advice on a large range of child health and development issues, from nutrition and breastfeeding to early learning and the value of play, responsive parenting, protection, and safety. It will also include specific guidance for parents and caregivers on how to ensure their own well-being. To accompany parents during the first years of their children's lives, Bebbo also includes features allowing parents to record vaccinations, health check-ups and other key development milestones.

The Learning Passport is a new solution designed to close the learning poverty gap. This is tech platform provided by UNICEF and supported by Microsoft. It is an online, mobile, and offline tech platform enabling high quality, flexible learning.

In Kyrgyzstan, UNICEF closely cooperated with local education experts to tailor the Learning Passport to the needs and priorities of teachers to better respond to early education needs of young children. The Learning Passport will be known as Bilimduu Muun [Educated Generation] in Kyrgyzstan. The app will be used by preschool education institutions at first. Use of the platform will be gradually expanded to cover elder students.

Development and adaptation of the Learning Passport and Bebbo parenting app corresponds to priorities of the National Education Development Strategy for 2021-2040 and Action Plan for implementation of the Education Development Program 2021-2023.
