AKIPRESS.COM - A rural hospital in Kosh-Dobo village, Ak-Tala district of Naryn region is on verge of collapse, activist Duishenbek Turarbekov said.
The roof of the hospital leaks, floors are decaying, wall plaster is peeling off, he said.
"The hospital is in unsafe condition. 200 people are treated there. The village needs a new hospital. I sent a letter to the President's Administration, but did not receive a reply yet," the activist said.
Gulsara Altymysheva, who has worked as obstetrician in the hospital for many years, said more than 70 babies are born there a year.
"The hospital was built in 1956 by local community members. We make minor repair every year. Some funding was provided 3 years ago for replacement of floor covering," she said.
Ak-Tala district general practice center director Azamat Duishenaliev said the local authorities try to resolve the problem.
"We try to do something for the last 3 years. We are in talks with international foundations," he added.
