Turkmenistan, Pakistan consider projects in energy sector

AKIPRESS.COM - Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Minister of State for Petroleum of Pakistan Musadik Masood Malik on September 21.

During the meeting, significance of the high-level contacts for further strengthening bilateral and multilateral interaction between Turkmenistan and Pakistan was underlined, Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan noted.

The parties discussed the trade-economic cooperation, in particular partnership in energy field. They considered the possibilities of the implementation of projects on transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI), power lines and fiber-optic communication lines along the route Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP).

The Minister of State for Petroleum of Pakistan noted that the leadership of Pakistan supports the above-mentioned projects, which have importance for the parties and for the region.

Activation of joint work on implementation of these projects is one of the main tasks of Turkmen-Pakistani trade and economic cooperation, the Ministry adds.
