USAID donates more than 8 million soms to provide immediate relief for displaced families in Batken

AKIPRESS.COM - More than 400 displaced families from Batken will be able to meet their immediate needs thanks to over 8 million KGS ($100,000) in assistance to the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

These funds support the urgent humanitarian needs of Kyrgyzstanis affected by the border violence in Batken Oblast. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies will distribute this multi-purpose cash assistance to provide immediate relief to those affected.

“This funding comes from the American people to the people of the Kyrgyz Republic. We are contributing to the international humanitarian efforts that help alleviate the hardships faced by hundreds of families in Batken” said Sonata Coulter, Chargé D'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek.

This support is in addition to 1,000 hygiene kits USAID provided through UNICEF and the National Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan. The kits helped meet the needs of 5,000 people, including 2,000 children in Batken Oblast.
