Kyrgyz delegation of women entrepreneurs visit UAE on business mission

AKIPRESS.COM - The official visit of the Kyrgyz delegation of women entrepreneurs to the United Arab Emirates successfully took place from October 23 to 28, 2022 at the joint initiative of N. Beishenalieva, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Kyrgyz Republic and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the UAE Ministry of Economy, the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, as well as the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the UAE.

The delegation was comprised of 14 women entrepreneurs, who represented small, medium and large businesses of the Kyrgyz Republic dealing in a wide range of economic activities. In particular, the members included the managers of Sky Industrial Group, Sezimtal School of Inclusive Education, Compass College, Fund for Tourism Development Support in the Kyrgyz Republic OJSC, Ak-Sai Travel Company, DZHOLDOSHEVA dressmaking company, Renewable Energy Sources Association, Kyrgyz Wind System OJSC, World Class, Association of Korean Studies and Korean Language Teachers of Universities of Central Asia, Kyrgyz-Korean College, Bai Elim Company LLC, Luxor Avenue boutiques, Oberon LLC, Ak-Kuu poultry farm and Medex Travel.

The visit of Kyrgyz women entrepreneurs was organized with the view of expanding economic cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the UAE and building impactful business ties between both business communities. In light of the current trends in establishing new economic partnerships in the global environment and as the traditional markets are losing their relevance for the Kyrgyz Republic, the cooperation with UAE businesses is of the essence and in-demand for building the investment potential of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The top UAE Government officials contributed to the development of the visit itinerary thus demonstrating the importance of the event for the both countries and paving the way for trusting relations between the parties. In the course of the visit the participants were able to meet a wide range of individuals directly involved in the UAE trade and economic relations with third countries and managerial decision-making. In particular, on the first day the Kyrgyz women entrepreneurs visited the UAE General Women's Union, designed as a national mechanism for empowering women and their entrepreneurship in the UAE. The itinerary envisaged visits to trade pavilions that offer the products made by women's businesses to demonstrate the economic capacity of women's entrepreneurship.

Empowering Women in Business seminar was held to build a dialogue between UAE businesses and Kyrgyz entrepreneurs. The seminar started with a welcoming speech by Nazira Beishenalieva, Chairpeson of the AmCham Board of Directors, providing a detailed outlook of the Kyrgyz economy for the hosts. During the seminar the delegation members had the opportunity to address the certain aspects they encounter in doing business in the Kyrgyz Republic. The seminar provided a forum to the parties to discuss the institutional mechanisms for supporting women's entrepreneurship, the building of new economic ties between the countries, identified priority areas for trade and economic cooperation, unearthed gender inequality, access to education, and highlighted the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in Kyrgyzstan and the UAE.

The official meeting with Noura Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of the UAE General Women's Union took place on the same day. During the event the participants shared their knowledge and experience, exchanged contacts and discussed international cooperation opportunities.

As part of the business visit itinerary, the Kyrgyz business representatives were able to meet Mr. Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, State Minister of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the member of the local business circles.

Following the business meetings, the delegation proceeded to the next facility - GW Al Dhafra PV2, the world’s largest solar power plant, located in Abu Dhabi, where the guests were demonstrated the solar park project, as well as the Abu Dhabi’s economic and environmental potential.

During the visit, the delegation had a meeting with Mr. Fahad Al Thani, Director of the Investment Support Section at FDI Dubai. The participants presented their businesses and shared their projects. In his speech Mr. Fahad Al Thani noted the importance of active efforts to strengthen Arab-Kyrgyz relations in trade, economy and business. Dubai FDI is part of the Dubai Economic Development Department and provides critical information and invaluable support to foreign businesses seeking to invest in Dubai's economy and capitalize on its global strategic importance.

On the same day the delegation visited the UAE Youth Council at the Arab Youth Center, where it was offered the opportunity to meet Ms. Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, UAE Minister of Youth Affairs. The Youth Council is administered by the UAE Federal Youth Authority.

On October 27, the Kyrgyz delegation visited the Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates and met with Mr. Khalifa AlJaziri, Advisor to the Commercial affairs regulatory sector of the Ministry of Economy UAE. In the meeting the Ministry presented the socio-economic and investment potential of the United Arab Emirates and the activities of Projects of the 50 and the Entrepreneurial Nation, which excited keen interest of the Kyrgyz party.

Moreover, the business delegation visited the UAE Women's Business Council and met with its Chair, Ms. Farida Kambar Al Awadi and board members. Farida Kambar Al Awadi, Chair of the Women's Business Council, awarded Nazira Beishenaliyeva, Chairperson of the AmCham Board of Directors, for the start of mutually beneficial relations between the Kyrgyz and UAE women entrepreneurs. The members of the Kyrgyz and UAE business circles outlined the focus of their companies’ operation and emphasized the role of close cooperation and further bilateral mutually beneficial relations between the two countries.

The visit outcomes proved to be fruitful and promising, and offered a high potential for further growth. The host party dwelled on the prospective cooperation areas with each delegation member and provided valuable guidelines on the primary actions to build productive economic cooperation within certain business areas. The UAE finds great interest in such areas of trade and economic cooperation as joint education, tourism, agro-industrial, sports and fintech projects.

The high level meetings, pro-active stand of Kyrgyz entrepreneurs, constructive nature of discussions constituted the elements of promising cooperation and created the ground for a successful business cooperation model for the parties.

It is worth noting that each meeting of the Kyrgyz business women delegation was accompanied by the team of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the UAE under the strict guidance of Mr. Abdilatif Kudaykulovich Jumabaev, Ambassador, giving great significance and value to the meetings. The involvement of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the UAE in the event demonstrated economic diplomacy in action.

It should be acknowledged that the preparation for this event was accompanied by deep faith in the success of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the UAE and the great potential of the role of women in the development of the economic and social well-being. We are proud to note that this event is unique and constitutes the first initiative in the history of our countries to develop economic cooperation solely based on women's leadership. We are confident that the consolidation of economic, human and natural resources, as well as the intangible heritage of Central Asia and the Arab world will create a foundation for new initiatives for the global community. It is expected that the dialogue between the two countries established during this visit will result in successful and impactful initiatives that will bring new values to our societies.
