ISRS discusses cooperation with EU delegation

AKIPRESS.COM - The Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan (ISRS) hosted a meeting on February 22 with the European delegation led by Rapporteur of the European Parliament on Uzbekistan Ilhan Kyuchyuk.

The parties discussed ongoing political and socio-economic reforms, and the current state and prospects of Uzbekistan – European partnership, UzA reported.

The European experts were informed about the results of structural reforms in Uzbekistan, including Tashkent's assistance in maintaining good-neighborly and mutually beneficial ties with regional countries.

The current dynamics in the European – Uzbekistan relations are seen as positive thanks to the reforms carried out under the leadership of the President, according to Rapporteur of the European Parliament on Uzbekistan Ilhan Kyuchyuk.

It was stressed that Uzbekistan's accession to the EU's special incentive arrangement for sustainable development and good governance (GSP+) has contributed to boosting trade and economic ties with the European Union.

The EU, as one of the main partners of the country, actively supports Uzbekistan's efforts to strengthen connectivity in the region.

The discussions highlighted the importance of implementation of the EU Global Gateway strategy, which will allow to effectively use of the huge potential of the European Union and Central Asia for mutually beneficial cooperation.

The parties expressed hope for the continuation of interaction on a wide range of issues aimed at further strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EU.
