188 developers and contractors arrested after earthquakes in Turkey

AKIPRESS.COM - 188 people responsible for the buildings destroyed during earthquakes were arrested in Turkey. These are mainly developers and contractors. 626 suspects were established after the study of the collapsed or partially injured objects, Hurriyet reported.

"While 188 suspects were arrested, 218 were released," the newspaper writes.

AP reported that as a result of the earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 173,000 buildings fell or were seriously damaged. Experts say that many of them were built using low-quality materials and technologies.

44,374 people died in Turkey as a result of earthquakes as of February 26.
