AKIPRESS.COM - The delegation of Kyrgyzstan takes part in the work of the UN Water Conference 2023, which is held on March 22-24 at the UN Headquarters in New York. The delegation consists of representatives of the Water Resources Service under the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision.

Kyrgyzstan, together with Italy, UNESCO, the Mountain Partnership, UN-Water and the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat, held a side event within a framework of the Conference on March 22, the Foreign Ministry stated. The event was about partnership and cooperation in the field of water resources, and discussed findings from the 2023 UN Report on the world's water resources and country experiences.

Representative of the Foreign Ministry Anvar Anarbayev stated in his speech that Kyrgyzstan believes that issues of water resources use should be resolved through an open and constructive dialogue with mutual consideration of the interests of states.

The delegation also noted that the recognition and calculation of the value of water resources, its inclusion in decision-making is essential for the management of water resources in a sustainable and equitable manner.

The delegation took part in various events, including an interactive dialogue on the relationship between water, energy and food and sustainable economic and urban development, side events on transformation of the desert into a forest for the revival of the Aral Sea region, relationship "water-energy-food-environment" for water energy transition.
