World's strongest draughts players compete in Uzbekistan

AKIPRESS.COM - Tashkent hosts the World Draughts Cup, UzA reports.

Almost 100 athletes from 8 countries, including 12 international grandmasters, are fighting for victory.

Among the officials of the chess federations of several countries, the President of the International Draughts Federation (IDF) Vladimir Langin observes the competition.

As part of the event, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports with the President of the International Draughts Federation Vladimir Langin. The parties exchanged views on the reforms carried out in physical education and sports in Uzbekistan, especially the development of draughts. It was noted that among the draughts players of Uzbekistan, there are 5 international grandmasters and 12 masters of sports of international class. Over the past five years, 13 of our athletes have won world titles in their age category.

Following the meeting, the parties reached certain agreements on further cooperation.

The competition will run until April 8.
