AKIPRESS.COM - Chairman of the upper house of the Parliament of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is on a two-day working visit to Iran on May 30-31, the Foreign Ministry reported.

It is noted that two countries demonstrated the desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation through implementation of large-scale joint projects such as the construction of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran steel highway.

In strengthening business ties, an important role is given to the activities of the joint Intergovernmental Commission, created for regulating trade and economic relations. The countries also develop cultural and humanitarian interaction, including international conferences and forums with the participation of Turkmen and Iranian delegations, Cross Days of Culture and exhibitions of arts and crafts.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the first day of the visit held talks with President of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, Chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council Sadeq Amoli Larijani, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf.

At the meetings, a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation was discussed, specific steps were identified to further intensify mutually beneficial relations, and confidence was expressed in the consistent successful development of the Turkmen-Iranian partnership.
