AKIPRESS.COM - Chairperson of the Senate of the Parliament of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with Ambassador of Qatar Hassan bin Hamza Hashim, UzA reported.

The parties discussed the current state of relations between Uzbekistan and Qatar and the prospects for their development. In particular, the parties focused on political, trade, economic, and investment issues, further strengthening inter-parliamentary ties.

"The development of cooperation with the Parliament of Qatar is one of our priority areas. Friendship groups and cooperation between the relevant committees of parliaments will be an important impetus for enriching relations between the two countries with new content and fully realizing the potential of collaboration," Narbayeva said.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Ambassador noted that the state visit of Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Uzbekistan in June gave a completely new spirit to bilateral relations. The diplomat acknowledged that Uzbekistan is the main regional partner of Qatar, emphasized the importance of developing inter-parliamentary relations, and noted the importance of the efforts of the two countries’ parliaments in ensuring the implementation of agreements reached at a high level.

An agreement was reached to continue cooperation and joint initiatives within the framework of international organizations.
