AKIPRESS.COM - Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev participated in the opening ceremony of the Arkadag city on June 29 in Akhal province of Turkmenistan.

The high-level delegations which included foreign dignitaries were acquainted with objects of cultural and community value and residential buildings erected in the city of Arkadag.

The guests also attended the opening ceremony of the children’s rehabilitation center named after H.E. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan.

The opening festivities continued with awards and certificates ceremony for Arkadag city. The Secretary General presented a certificate of the OTS on granting Arkadag city the status of the "First Smart City of the Turkic World" in the presence of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhammedov.

The event featured with official reception and concert dedicated to the opening of the city of Arkadag.

Considered Turkmenistan’s first smart city, Arkadag is estimated to house more than 70 thousand residents.
