Khan Teniri state nature park is located in the eastern part of Issyk-Kul region at the junction of the Kungay and Teskei-Too ridges, in Sary-Dzhaz River basin.

Khan-Teniri was created to protect rare species of animals and plants, in particular, to preserve the population of the snow leopard.
