UN ESCAP supports women-led digital business projects in Mongolia

AKIPRESS.COM - The six best project proposals with innovative digital solutions from Mongolia were selected for the international women-led business project, Montsame said.

The National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mongolia hosted a meeting to introduce the Promoting and Upscaling Digital Solutions for Enhancing Women Enterprise Growth and Resilience Program on October 14.

The International Women's Federation of Commerce and Industry Mongolia (IWFCI Mongolia) is implementing the Promoting and Upscaling Digital Solutions for Enhancing Women Enterprise Growth and Resilience Program, funded by the Women Entrepreneur Growth Fund, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia. 

Among the selected projects are a comprehensive system of training and club activities using mobile applications and websites Clubi, Gerege Smart POS system and social trading website, Social Trading Web "Shopstagram", "iGeree" website that offers professional legal services for drafting contracts and documents, eClinic system of pharmacy operations, and application with a remote support outsourcing service for mothers "Momade".

The results of the implementation of these projects were presented at the meeting, and six grantees shared their experiences.

Chief of Innovation, Enterprise, and Investment of ESCAP Jonathan Wong, Catalyzing Women Entrepreneurship Partnerships Specialist of ESCAP Sara D'Anzeo, and Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Mongolia Hannes Takacs attended the meeting at the invitation of IWFCI Mongolia.

Chief of Innovation, Enterprise, and Investment Jonathan Wong noted the possibility to continue the program in Mongolia next year.

"We have implemented a program aimed at revitalizing, expanding, and supporting the growth of women-owned businesses for the first time in Mongolia. We have partnered with six selected projects, providing non-refundable grants of 200 million tugriks to organize training and mentoring and make them publicly recognized. Participants in all six projects worked together as a team, going beyond developing the technological solutions and striving to expand cooperation on mutually beneficial terms," Director of IWFCI Mongolia O. Baigali noted.
