AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstan intends to transit over 100 mln tons of Russian oil via its territory to China by 2033, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said in an interview with Russia’s Izvestia daily, Tass reports.
"Kazakhstan and Russia have long been cooperating successfully in the oil sector as well. Such Russian concerns as Lukoil and Tatneft successfully work in our country," he said.
Oil transportation through the territories of both countries "has a significant portion" in fuel and energy complexes of Kazakhstan and Russia, Tokayev added. "Around 80% of Kazakh oil is exported to foreign markets through Russian territory (the Caspian Pipeline Consortium)," he said, adding that "similarly Russian oil is supplied to the People’s Republic of China through Kazakh territory." "The plan is to transit more than 100 mln tons of Russian oil through 2033," Kazakhstan’s leader noted.
