President of Mongolia to attend COP28

AKIPRESS.COM - The 28th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28) will be held in Dubai, UAE, from November 30 to December 12.

President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa will take part in World Climate Action Summit (WCAS) to be held during the United Nations Climate Change Conference – COP 28, Montsame reports.

During the Summit, the President will express Mongolia's position on combating climate change, desertification, and reducing global warming. He will also present policies and activities implemented at the national level. Moreover, bilateral meetings will be held with heads of state of some countries and leaders of international organizations.

In addition to actions for the goals of the Paris Agreement, COP28 will focus on fast-tracking to clean energy sources, delivering money for climate action to poor countries, provided by rich countries, and working on a new deal for developing nations, making COP28 the "most inclusive" ever.

There will also be themed events on issues including health, finance, food, and nature.

The Office of the President of Mongolia and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism jointly organized a consultation meeting of the parties to ensure the implementation of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) on November 9.

The meeting addressed the issues of defining solutions, enhancing implementation, and cross-sectoral coordination of state bodies to ensure the implementation of the RIO Conventions - Climate Change, Biodiversity, and Combating Desertification - the main multilateral agreement signed by Mongolia in the environmental sector.
