
AKIPRESS.COM - Prime Minister of Mongolia L. Oyun-Erdene, Governor of Ulaanbaatar Kh. Nyambaatar and other relevant officials held a meeting with environmental scientists, researchers, government and non-government organizations. They discussed the problems of the environment and ecology sector and their solutions, GoGoMongolia reports.
During the meeting, Mayor Kh. Nyambaatar presented the planned and implemented measures to reduce air pollution in Ulaanbaatar.
The Parliament has approved the law on reducing traffic congestion in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar and providing housing to ger district.
The final solution to air, environment and soil pollution, garbage and other problems of Ulaanbaatar city is to provide housing to ger districts. Six sub-centers will be established in the capital, land acquisition will be carried out, and the construction of apartments for 18,000 households will be started next year in Selbe and Bayankhoshuu sub-centers.
The number of 720,000 cars registered in the capital will not be increased.
A bid for 20,000 electric heaters is going to be announced in order to improve air quality and reduce the number of chimneys in the region. 100,000 households can be switched to electric heaters if the power capacity is increased in future.
