AKIPRESS.COM - Chairperson of the Senate of the Parliament Tanzila Narbayeva met with Secretary-General of the Shura Council of Qatar Ahmed bin Nasser Al Fadala, UzA says.

The parties discussed cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar and prospects for further strengthening inter-parliamentary ties.

The trade turnover and investment between the two countries is growing. Large joint projects are being prepared and implemented. The sides noted that despite the growing trade turnover, investment and implementation of joint projects, the volume of mutual trade turnover does not fully reflect the capabilities of both countries. It is necessary to unite the two countries' efforts to accelerate interparliamentary relations further and bring them to a new stage, the sides stressed.

It was proposed to ensure regularity of visits and speed up the development of a draft relevant document on interparliamentary cooperation.

An agreement was reached on developing mutual dialogue within the framework of various international organizations and parliamentary structures.
