
AKIPRESS.COM - 36 dedicated bus lanes with a total length of 475 km are planned to be created in Tashkent by 2024, reports nova24.uz with reference to the Ministry of Transport.
Together with the Ministry of Transport and the United Nations Development Program's representative office in Uzbekistan, the project "Tashkent - Accelerating the Attraction of Investments in Low-Carbon Vehicles (TAILEV)" has unveiled the "Green City" transport corridor.
In addition, it is planned to introduce the concept and technical and economic basis of a green transport corridor on Shota Rustaveli Street. The project development process included a study of the opinions of passengers, considering the specific requirements of individuals with disabilities, the elderly, children, and women in designing the public transport infrastructure.
The technical and economic aspects of the Green Transport Corridor project have been assessed. The average speed of vehicles along the corridor will increase by 11%, and air pollution will decrease by 12.3%.
The total time saved by all passengers traveling by bus along the corridor in one day is 3,318 hours, fuel savings is 2.6 million liters per year, which will lead to an economic effect of 21.2 billion soums per year.
The developed projects and technical and economic documentation were transferred to the Tashkent administration.
