
AKIPRESS.COM - Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai met with President of Switzerland Viola Amherd on January 16 as part of the 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum held in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland.
Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene congratulated Viola Amherd on her appointment as the President in 2024. This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Switzerland. The Prime Minister expressed his belief that the relations and cooperation between the two countries will be intensified.
In addition, the Premier highlighted the contribution of Switzerland to the social and economic development of Mongolia. The projects implemented under the Swiss Development Programme in agriculture, mining, education, and other social sectors of Mongolia had a significant impact on reducing poverty, improving the livelihood of citizens, diversifying the economy, and strengthening democracy, the PM noted.
The sides also discussed the possibilities of developing winter tourism in Mongolia taking into account the similarities between nature and climate of Mongolia and Switzerland.
President Viola Amherd, who is responsible for the issues of defense, sports, and civil protection, shared her views on the cooperation in strengthening the capabilities of the border guards of Mongolia.
