AKIPRESS.COM - Mongolia ranked 81st place in the democracy index published by "V-Dem" institution. The country fell 4 places compared to last year, news.mn reported.

Mongolia ranked 77th place with 0.43 points last year. It was a drop of 16 places from the previous year.

The democracy index of any country is based on multi-party system, free and fair elections, a transparent and open government that respects the law, a quality that strives for a peaceful transfer of power, independent media free from government control and influence.

Mongolia fell 5 places in the corruption index in 2023. Mongolia ranked 121st place among 180 countries last year.
