AKIPRESS.COM - Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva Eldiyor Toshmatov met with WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala t the World Trade Organization (WTO) headquarters, UzA reports.
The Uzbek side congratulated the WTO Director-General on the successful holding of the 13th Ministerial Conference in Abu Dhabi, which took place from February 26 to March 2.
It was noted that Uzbekistan had become a priority country for the WTO and was highly appreciated by the organization's head.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala expressed hope that the country will become the next full member of the WTO and assured of the support of the organization's Secretariat.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to begin preparations for the visit of the WTO Director-General to Uzbekistan in June this year, as well as to accelerate the activities of the Working Group on Uzbekistan's accession to this organization, improve the qualifications of specialists and harmonize the legislation of the country with its agreements and rules.
