Mongolian PM thanks Japanese government for humanitarian assistance

AKIPRESS.COM - Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai received Ambassador of Japan to Mongolia Igawahara Masaru on March 25, Montsame reported.

Ambassador Igawahara Masaru announced that the government of Japan has decided to provide humanitarian material aid to Mongolia to overcome the dzud and handed over the letter sent by Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida to Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai.

Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene emphasized that the government and people of Japan have consistently supported Mongolia's society and economy's sustainable development. He expressed sincere gratitude to the government of Japan, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, and the Japanese people for providing humanitarian aid to overcome the dzud.

"We sincerely hope that the help we have provided will benefit the herdsmen and facilitate overcoming the dzud with minimal damage, enabling them to return to their normal lives," Ambassador Igawahara said.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed strengthening the special strategic partnership between Mongolia and Japan, further intensifying dialogue and mutual visits at all levels, and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in the regional and international arenas.

The Ambassador also expressed a desire to expand and develop 'people-centered' relations and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries as 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of cultural relations between Mongolia and Japan.
