AKIPRESS.COM - Resident of the village of Alga, Kadamjai disitrict, planted a fruit orchard covering an area of 22 hectares. He spent 8 million soms on it.
Mahamatali Temirov planted over 5,000 dwarf seedlings of apricot, peach, and cherry, imported from Turkiye, and as of today, approximately 80% of the planting has been completed.
According to the farmer, dwarf fruit trees start yielding harvests within 3-4 years after planting. For example, peaches can be harvested in 3 years, cherries in 5 years, and apricots in 3-4 years.
"I have been involved in agriculture since my early years, as I was born into a family of horticulturists. Previously, I opened a greenhouse where I grow tomatoes, lemons, and other vegetables. On a plot of land covering 22 hectares, I decided to establish an orchard, laid a power line for 6 km. There were difficulties with paperwork, which cost me about 500,000 soms. Earlier, I took out a loan for livestock farming and imported 18 bulls from Russia. Each cost 70,000 soms. I hope that the sold bulls will cover the expenses. Since there was not enough money, I sold my house. Recently, I borrowed another 1 million soms at interest for horticulture," the farmer says.
To ensure water supply for the future orchard, Mahamatali Temirov drilled an 80-meter well and is building a reservoir with a capacity of 1700 cubic meters. According to his plans, the plot will be irrigated using drip irrigation. An estimated $15,000 will be needed for these purposes.
He previously built a greenhouse complex on a plot of land covering 30 acres. He received a land plot of 1.5 hectares from the village administration and plans to expand the greenhouse.
