Mongolia wins two bronze medals in Antalya Grand Slam

AKIPRESS.COM - The IJF Antalya Grand Slam 2024 was successfully held in Antalya, Türkiye, from March 29 to March 31. The Grand Slam brought together over 600 judokas from 93 countries, including 19 from Mongolia, Montsame reports.

International Master of Sports of Mongolia Narantsetseg Ganbaatar competed in the women's 48 kg category and claimed her seventh medal from the IJF Grand Slam. She advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Jacqueline Solis from Guatemala, Amber Gersjes from the Netherlands, and Merve Azak from Türkiye. However, Narantsetseg suffered a loss to Sila Ersin from Türkiye in the semi-final with a score of 0-1. She bounced back in the bronze medal match, defeating Natasha Ferreira with a score of 2-0, earning her place on the podium at the Grand Slam.

In the men's 100 kg category, Mongolian judoka and International Master of Sports Gonchigsuren Batkhuyag clinched a bronze medal, marking his fourth medal from the IJF Grand Slam. He achieved this feat by defeating Mathias Madsen from Denmark, Daniel Eich from Switzerland, Korrel Michael from the Netherlands, and Leonardo Goncalves from Brazil.

With two bronze medals, Mongolia achieved a 15th-place ranking out of 93 countries.
