AKIPRESS.COM - 70,172 hectares of forests and pastures were destroyed by fire in Mongolia as of Tuesday, the National Emergency Management Agency reported.
"Fires were registered in 18 districts of 8 provinces, including Bulgan, Dornod, Sukhbaatar, Selenge, Khovd, Khuvsgul, and Khentii," the statement notes.
According to experts, most forest fires occur due to human negligence, careless handling of fire and burning of grass in the spring.
29 forest and wildfires were registered in the country as of April 15.
