President of Turkmenistan receives UK Foreign Secretary

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom David Cameron on April 24, the Foreign Ministry reported.

The head of state thanked the British side for supporting the initiatives put forward by Turkmenistan within the UN General Assembly. In particular, gratitude was expressed for the support of the Resolution "2025 – International Year of Peace and Trust" recently adopted at the initiative of Turkmenistan.

Discussing trade and economic relations, the interlocutors noted with satisfaction the development of bilateral trade turnover and the fruitful cooperation in the field of trade.

The sides noted importance of using the capabilities of the Turkmen-British Trade and Industrial Council to expand economic cooperation. The oil and gas industry, agriculture and new technologies were identified as promising areas of interaction.

One of the topics of discussion was the issues of climate change and its harmful effects on human life. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan fully supports the proposals of the international community in this direction and is carrying out specific activities in green growth.

The parties emphasized the wide opportunities available for developing cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, especially intensifying bilateral cultural dialogue.

They expressed readiness for partnership with the British side in the field of education, in particular in using targeted programs and promoting English language teaching.
