AKIPRESS.COM - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is bolstering Mongolia's public healthcare system with an investment, which will be used to build a new hospital in Darkhan.
EBRD is extending a sovereign loan of €40.3 million ($43.2 million) and a €5 million ($5.35 million) capital grant to the government of Mongolia for designing, constructing, and equipping a new hospital with 250 beds.
This financial support aims to enhance the quality of hospital services in the region.
The project will introduce advanced medical technologies, new diagnostic tools, and treatments for Mongolia's main causes of death. Its intention is to make these available locally, improving healthcare access for the residents of Darkhan.
The new hospital will advance healthcare services and set environmental standards. It aims to achieve higher energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainable materials use in its construction.
The project’s ultimate goal is to secure the international Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) certification, making it the first EDGE-certified regional public building in Mongolia.
