
AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan held political consultations in Astana on May 27, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.
The Turkmen side was headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Kazakh side by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu.
The parties noted that Turkmen-Kazakh relations are characterized by increasing dynamics. They exchanged views on the bilateral agenda, reviewed the level of political and diplomatic dialogue between two countries, as well as the progress in implementing previously reached agreements. Focusing on the key role of contacts at the highest level, the parties agreed that these meetings are the main factor in strengthening bilateral cooperation with a long-term perspective.
The positive experience of interaction between two countries within the framework of international and regional structures, in particular the UN, OIC, ECO, CIS, as well as in the CA+ formats, was stated. A high level of interaction within international structures was noted.
The sides emphasized the progressive development of interparliamentary relations. The ministers also agreed to strengthen the pace and dynamics of interaction between the foreign ministries of two countries.
The interlocutors reviewed the current state and prospects for cooperation in the trade and economic spheres, where there are solid potential for joint work. The importance of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kazakh Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation, on whose platform specific projects are being implemented in order to expand bilateral relations was noted. Issues of deepening cooperation in such priority areas of the economy as fuel and energy, transport, logistics and industrial sectors also were considered.
