
AKIPRESS.COM - World No. 1 tennis player Iga Swiatek lost in the third round of Wimbledon to Kazakhstan's 35th-ranked player Yulia Putintseva, according to BBC.
The Polish tennis player managed to win only one set, losing the match with a score of 6-3, 1-6, 2-6.
Swiatek, who has won five Grand Slam titles, has never won at Wimbledon.
The 23-year-old Swiatek will now prepare for competition at the Roland Garros courts during the Summer Olympics in Paris.
Yulia Putintseva, 29, has reached the quarterfinals of the French Open and the US Open but has never progressed beyond the second round at Wimbledon. In the round of 16, Putintseva will face Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko.
