
AKIPRESS.COM - The Prosecutor's Office supervised 1,366 investigations of corruption in the first half of 2024, which is an increase of 9.5% compared to last year, GoGo reported.
167 cases were transferred to court for resolution, including 120 facts of abusing authority and job position, 53 cases of taking bribe, 56 facts of giving bribe, and 4 facts of getting rich without reason.
Of 2.2 trillion tugriks losses caused by corruption, 1.6 trillion tugriks losses were compensated by the perpetrators. Assets worth 42.8 billion tugriks were seized from people and legal entities involved in criminal activities during the investigation, and assets worth 1.8 billion tugriks were confiscated.
67.5% of corruption was registered in Ulaanbaatar city and 32.5% in rural areas, the highest in Bayan-Ulgii, Selenge, and Sukhbaatar provinces.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office of Mongolia, the crime of using politically influential job positions accounts for 79% of all corruption cases, while the crime of accepting bribes accounts for 17% and the crime of giving bribes accounts for 9.2%.
