AKIPRESS.COM - 19,342 residential buildings were damaged due to floods in Kazakhstan. 9,243 houses are subject to repair and 8,578 houses cannot be restored, the Ministry of Industry and Construction told Vlast.kz.
The authorities plan to buy 6,000 houses and apartments on the secondary market and build 2,578 houses for owners of the buildings that cannot be restored.
"3,771 residential properties have been acquired, construction of 2,500 houses has begun, construction of 156 houses has been completed, including 151 in North Kazakhstan region and 5 in Pavlodar region. Repair work has begun in 7,428 houses," the Ministry reported.
405 million tenge was allocated from the government's emergency reserve for the purchase of 31 apartments in Arkalyk city of Kostanay region. The purchase and construction of houses is carried out in other regions through sponsorship funds: more than 250 billion tenge were sent by Kazakh businesses and funds to help people affected by floods.
