Passenger plane crashes in Nepal, 18 people on board die

AKIPRESS.COM - A Saurya Airlines plane burst into flames after it skidded off the runway within minutes of taking off at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, NDTV reports.

The passengers, comprising two crew and 17 of Saurya Airlines staff, were on board.

18 people were declared dead after the plane crashed. Authorities launched a search and rescue operation at the scene.

The plane was heading to Pokhara, the tourist center of the country.

The plane's captain, Manish Shakya, was rescued from the wreckage and taken to hospital.
