Life in rural Kyrgyzstan: The youngest mother-heroine of 8 children in Talas village of Min-Bulak

AKIPRESS.COM - Gulanda Karachova, a resident of Bakai-Ata district in Talas region, is the youngest mother-heroine in Min-Bulak village: at just 37 years old, she is a mother of 8.

"My husband and I got married in November 2006. My husband has 8 siblings, it turns out he dreamed of having many children because he had many siblings. Our first-born daughter was born in 2007. She now studies at grade 10. Our youngest is only 1 month old," she said.

She named her children and their ages: Nagima, 16, Aminat, 15, Nursultan, 13, Nurel, 8, Samira, 7, Asylzat, 5, Tanshoola, 4, and Nurai, 1 month.

"We are doing our best to give our children a decent upbringing. 5 of them go to school and 2 go to daycare," she said.

Karachova does sewing and clothing repair and her husband does craftsmanship for a living.

"Sometimes I can't believe myself that I have so many children. But having many children is not very hard, because elder ones can take care of the young ones and help with household chores," she said.
