AKIPRESS.COM - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Akhmet Gurbanov met with OHCHR Regional Representative for Central Asia Matilda Bogner on September 4, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OHCHR. They emphasized that in order to improve democratic institutions and effectively implement human rights obligations, Turkmenistan is building a multifaceted partnership with relevant international organizations.
The activities of the Interdepartmental Commission to ensure the fulfillment of Turkmenistan's international obligations in human rights and international humanitarian law were considered.
In addition, the tasks of implementing the National Action Plan on Human Rights in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025, National Action Plan on Gender Equality in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025, National Action Plan for the Protection of Children's Rights in Turkmenistan for 2023-2028 were discussed.
The parties discussed the results of the dialogues within the framework of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, the Committee on the Children's Rights, and emphasized the intention to cooperate in implementing the recommendations presented as a result of the dialogues on a systemic basis.
The interlocutors expressed interest in expanding cooperation with the UN in human rights education.
