President of Turkmenistan receives Foreign Minister of Malaysia

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Dato Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan on September 10, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.

The President of Turkmenistan noted that he considers the visit as an important stage in the further development of partnership between Turkmenistan and Malaysia.

It was noted at the meeting that Turkmenistan and Malaysia successfully cooperate both in bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations.

Thanking the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia for supporting Turkmenistan's policy of neutrality, including constructive international initiatives, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan highly appreciates the development of cooperation with Malaysia within the framework of the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement and other international structures.

The sides highlighted active interstate cooperation in trade and economic sphere. Special emphasis was placed on the oil and gas sector, including the important contribution of Petronas company to the implementation of joint projects.  It was noted that the Malaysian company has been participating in projects on production of hydrocarbon resources in Turkmenistan for many years, as well as actively engaged in training highly qualified specialists for the oil and gas industry of the country.

The importance of high level visits in the development of interstate dialogue was underlined at the meeting. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted the importance of his visit to Malaysia scheduled for the end of this year and expressed confidence that the upcoming talks would give a new impulse to the development of friendly relations between the two countries.
