AKIPRESS.COM - 8 imam-khatib and 10 deputy imams were fired from mosques in Tashkent in the first eight months of 2024. They made mistakes and did not comply with requirements and job instructions, the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan reports.
Another 4 imams were suspended for "not following the established procedures". This became known at the meeting of imams-khatibs of Tashkent under the chairmanship of mufti Sheikh Nuriddin Khaliqnazar.
Khaliqnazar criticized Tashkent imams, saying that some of them do not take their primary duties seriously, do not make sufficient efforts to provide for the needs of believers, and lack executive discipline. Mufti added that action was taken against imams who did not comply with established procedures, requirements of labor contracts and job instructions.
The Mufti noted that every imam-khatib should deeply feel the religion, perform their work well, constantly improve their knowledge and skills in keeping with the times, and be worthy of the status of leader.
