Kyrgyzstan's kokpar team might be suspended from WNG - WNG chief judge

AKIPRESS.COM - The Kyrgyz national kokpar team players might be suspended from World Nomad Games for 2-3 years or imposed a monetary fine, chief judge of the World Nomad Games in Astana Tastanbek Esentayev said.

Esentyev noted that the moment of violation of the rules by Kyrgyz players [at the awarding ceremony] was watched 10 times.

"During the game, we did not see that kamchy (horse whip) was used. However, this incident happened outside the game. The main requirement of the Kyrgyz team was to remove our player from the field with a red card. But since our rules do not provide for this, we dismissed him [Kazak player] for 2 minutes. The rest of the game was fair. Both teams were strong. There were no gross mistakes on the part of the judges," local media reported him as saying.

According to Esentayev, specific measures will be taken against athletes from Kyrgyzstan, who "did not listen to the anthem, took off their medals and defiantly left the field".

"Everyone saw what happened. The decision was made correctly," he noted.

"Discontent continued even at the time of the award ceremony, and the Kyrgyz athletes left before the end of the event. This is a an uncultured behavior. Measures will definitely be taken for such cases. The players of the Kyrgyz national kokpar team will either be suspended for 2-3 years or imposed a monetary fine. I cant say for sure right now," he said.

The decisive game with participation of the national teams of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan took place on September 12 and ended in favor of the national team of Kazakhstan with a score of 5:4. After the game, Kyrgyzstan filed a protest against the result of the match. And head of the Kyrgyz national kokpar team, Erlan Abdykaparov told about pressure during the match, but the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan denied this information.
