
AKIPRESS.COM - The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced the arrival of Sara Werth as the new Mission Director for the Kyrgyz Republic, the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek said.
Ms. Werth officially assumed her duties in September 2024. She brings over two decades of experience in international development and diplomacy.
Prior to her appointment in the Kyrgyz Republic, Ms. Werth served as USAID's Deputy Mission Director in Nigeria, where she managed a diverse portfolio that spanned health, economic growth, education, and governance. She has also served in numerous leadership roles in USAID missions around the world, including Tunisia, Honduras, Guatemala, Colombia, and Bangladesh.
Ms. Werth stated, "I am honored to join USAID’s team in the Kyrgyz Republic and look forward to building on our partnerships with the people and government of the Kyrgyz Republic to strengthen economic opportunities, enhance governance, and improve health outcomes."
Ms. Werth holds an M.A. in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University of Advanced International Studies and an M.S. in National Security Strategy from the National War College of the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. She is originally from Cleveland, Ohio.
