AKIPRESS.COM - The Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction was organized in Manila, the Philippines, on October 14, Montsame reported.
On the sidelines of the conference, Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia Amarsaikhan Sainbuyan and Assistant Secretary-General and Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction Kamal Kishore held an official meeting.
During the meeting, Amarsaikhan Sainbuyan reported on the government's activities in implementing the "Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030". The parties exchanged views on collaborating with countries in the Asia-Pacific region and international organizations in this sector.
The Deputy Prime Minister extended an invitation to Assistant Secretary-General and Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction Kamal Kishore to participate in the Subregional Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction to be held in Mongolia in 2025.
Kamal Kishore expressed the UN's commitment to supporting activities and policies implemented by the government of Mongolia to overcome the challenges caused by climate change, harsh winters, and dry summers and minimize potential damages.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed the establishment of a cooperation platform focused on Northeast Asia and noted the progress in creating a Regional Center for Rapid Disaster Management in collaboration with the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction.
