
AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad on October 15. They exchanged views on the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for their development, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.
The parties considered a wide range of issues of the Turkmen-Pakistani partnership, and confirmed readiness to enhance interstate cooperation in political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.
Particular attention was paid to the need to intensify the implementation of large-scale and long-term international economic projects.
In particular, the relevance of completing preparation of bilateral documents on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline projects, and the high-voltage power transmission line along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route was emphasized.
The importance of joint activities in the transport and logistics sector was also noted. The Turkmen side currently cooperates with large Pakistani companies, including the National Logistics Corporation (NLC), partnership with which will significantly increase the volume of transportation along the China-Pakistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan route with access to the Central Asian and Caspian regions.
In addition, the parties discussed other issues of cooperation of mutual interest.
