AKIPRESS.COM - The 2024 World Amateur Chess Championships concluded in Rhodes, Greece, with Mongolia winning seven medals, Montsame reported.
A team of 27 Mongolian chess players competed in three FIDE rating categories — under 1700, under 2000, and under 2300 — securing a total of two gold, two silver, and three bronze medals. The event brought together 245 participants from 53 countries.
In the women's under-1700 category, B. Anu won silver, while L. Sumya took bronze. In the men's under-2000 category, A. Erhembayar claimed silver, with Ts. Saikhanchimeg won gold and D. Unurzul bronze. In the under 2300 category, men's player Kh. Ulziikhishig won bronze, and in the women's division, B. Amin-Erdene took gold.
In 2023, Mongolia won six medals at this tournament, including four gold, one silver, and one bronze.
