AKIPRESS.COM - Eurasia Group launched a new garment factory in Kashkar Kyshtak village, Kara-Suu district, with support of the U.S. government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The facility is expected to generate 600 jobs locally and is set to expand the Kyrgyz Republic’s presence in global markets, the U.S. Embassy said.
The President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, and USAID/Kyrgyz Republic Mission Director, Sara Werth, participated in the opening ceremony.
The garment factory is part of a broader textile and garment complex, with a total investment of over $27 million. Eurasia Group invested over $3.4 million in the new facility and USAID provided technical assistance to improve product quality, create more efficient production processes, create a website, and organize a fashion hackathon.
Once fully operational, the factory plans to export its products to the Middle East and North Africa, the European Union, and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Currently, the company employs over 160 seamstresses and is actively expanding its operations.
