Japan and Uzbekistan discuss cooperation projects

AKIPRESS.COM - A meeting with Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan Hatori Takashi was held at the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan. The bilateral cooperation projects and plans for the future were discussed at the meeting, UzA reported.

Together with Japan, several projects are implemented in equipping medical institutions of Uzbekistan, introducing digital technologies into the field, and training personnel.

Minister of Health Asilbek Khudoyorov reported that special medical containers with modern diagnostic equipment help to provide medical services to citizens living in remote areas.

Together with Japan's Sojitz Corporation, it is planned to begin constructing a clinic with 800 beds in Samarkand on a public-private partnership basis, which will further improve the quality of medical services for the population of Samarkand region.

Close cooperation has been established with several medical universities in the country, and specialists are trained based on joint educational programs. At the meeting, an exchange of views took place on further expanding cooperation in medical education.

The allocation of grants by Japan for the purchase of modern medical equipment for medical institutions in Uzbekistan within the framework of the program "Free assistance to small-scale social projects" serves to further strengthen their material and technical base.

At the meeting, grant agreements were signed for three more projects within the framework of this program.

Thus, grant funds will be used to equip the Bukhara branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care, the Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology, and the Republican Perinatal Center with modern medical equipment.

During the dialogue, Ambassador Hatori Takashi noted that Japan will continue to contribute to improving access to high-quality medical services in Uzbekistan.
