Turkmen-Chinese political consultations held in Ashgabat

AKIPRESS.COM - The Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and China held political consultations on January 15, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The Turkmen side was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Akhmet Gurbanov, the Chinese side was represented by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Liu Bin.

The parties exchanged views on all key areas of the bilateral agenda, including issues of political and diplomatic dialogue, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian partnership. It was emphasized that regular contacts at the highest, governmental and interdepartmental levels give impetus to comprehensive strategic relations.

During the negotiations, the topic of the Chinese side's participation in planned high-level events within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust was touched upon.

Speaking about bilateral inter-parliamentary relations, the parties emphasized the importance of the activities of inter-parliamentary friendship groups and participation in joint events.

The diplomats considered the issues of practical implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of China for 2025-2026, signed in Chengdu in November last year.

The interlocutors agreed that the activities of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation are an important mechanism for the Turkmen-Chinese dialogue, which is sustainable and long-term.

Special attention at the meeting was paid to expanding trade and economic ties. China was noted as the largest foreign economic partner of Turkmenistan for many years.

The parties expressed their readiness to intensify fruitful dialogue in promising areas of bilateral cooperation.
