
AKIPRESS.COM - The Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and Austria held political consultations on February 11, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.
The Turkmen side was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov, and the Austrian side was headed by Deputy Director General for Political Affairs, Director of the Department for the Russian Federation, Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus, Eastern Partnership, Türkiye and Central Asia of Austria Gerhard Sailler.
The parties emphasized the importance of holding this meeting in the International Year of Peace and Trust, marked by the 30th anniversary of the neutrality of Turkmenistan and the 70th anniversary of the neutrality of Austria.
A high level of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international structures, in particular the UN, OSCE and the EU, was noted. The mutual readiness of the countries to continue the practice of mutual support for initiatives in international organizations was confirmed.
During the consultations, priority areas of bilateral relations were discussed, including issues of political-diplomatic dialogue, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian partnership.
In the context of interaction between the Foreign Ministries, the diplomats touched upon the issues of practical implementation of the Cooperation Program for 2024-2025, signed in Vienna last March.
Speaking about the significant potential for increasing cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, the sides confirmed their readiness to further deepen cooperation and specified favorable fields.
The interlocutors agreed that cultural and humanitarian ties are an integral part of the Turkmen-Austrian dialogue.
